Boys; they look different, smell funny and their interests are just plain weird. Yet, despite these obvious hurdles, us girlies still want to talk to them.

“But how?” you cry.

Here’s how:

Cars

Just as girls’ love of shoes is a mystery to boys, boys’ car-o-philia is unfathomable to us ladeez. Stand out from the crowd by wowing him with these killer motor-maniac lines:

‘If you ask me fuel injection isn’t worth the extra money.’

‘Power steering? Pah! Wouldn’t people rather feel the weight of the car in their hands?’

‘The cars are so advanced now that anyone can win a grand prix, drivers don’t matter’

Don’t: Say ‘What cars do I like? um… red ones are nice.’

Obscure music

For some reason boys aren’t happy just liking music that’s in the charts. A track can have a great tune, a hunky singer and killer lyrics but if other people like it then boys see this as a huge challenge to find a more obscure ‘next big thing’. When he asks what you think of whichever unknown band he is currently championing say:

‘Yeah, they’re okay, but I prefer their early work’ whilst screwing your face up as you if you are giving it a lot of thought.

If you find the music boring look like an expert by claiming the band is, ‘too derivative.’

Don’t: Tap your foot and say, ‘ohhh this has got a good beat,’ or, ‘the lead singer is bare buff, I really fancy him’.

Sports

Most of what boys say about sport is copied from the newspapers anyway. If you ever feel the need to swot up your sporting savvy, have a quick glance at the back pages of a tabloid. If you get stuck let him do the work and ask him what he thinks of England’s chances in the World Cup. Do say:

‘What’s the big problem with the off-side rule, it’s blooming simple don’t you think?’ He’ll be obliged to agree or risk looking like he doesn’t know it and you’ll probably never be called on to prove your knowledge.
